MARYSVILLE, CALIFORNIA: The Marysville Gold Sox and Yuba City Bears have wrapped up the 2017 season with the Great West League. Just over fifty thousand fans walked through the gates at Colusa Casino Stadium to watch their favorite teams play this year. “This was a great start” says VP/GM Michael Mink, “we had two teams; our home-town favorite Gold Sox and their new rival, Yuba City Bears. Our fans were great this year and showed a tremendous amount of support for their teams.”
Of the sixty games played, the Feather Falls Fireworks Nights were by far the fan favorites for each team. Around fifteen thousand fans crowded to watch the teams play over six nights. These nights included some Twin Cities Rivalry games where the Marysville Gold Sox faced off with the Yuba City Bears.
The Twin Cities Rivalry games between the Gold Sox and Bears were the second most attended games this season. Just under seven thousand fans piled through the gates during these eight, non-fireworks games. “The Twin Cities Rivalry was very strong for such a late start for the Bears program,” says Mink, “the fans love it and we’re looking forward to bringing them back even bigger next season.” The Gold Sox won the Rivalry Series 8-4.
Our two Opening Nights (courtesy of Colusa Casino Stadium) drew in over two thousand seven hundred fans at the beginning of the season. Colusa Casino provided exclusive giveaway prizes for each of these nights. “This was a great way to get fans pumped up about the season,” says Mink, “we had great fan giveaways and great baseball.”
Faith Night, hosted by the Marysville Gold Sox, was the most successful non-fireworks, Twin Cities Rivalry game against the Yuba City Bears. Two thousand three hundred and five fans packed into Colusa Casino Stadium to enjoy baseball while celebrating many different faiths.
“We’re looking forward to another great season next year for both teams,” says Mink, “Our fans loved the Feather Falls Fireworks Nights so we’re planning to go above and beyond for them next season with our fireworks celebrations.”
