Smith Joins Gold Sox Roster

MONDAY, MAY 7, 2018 - MARYSVILLE, CALIFORNIA: Middle infielder, Elijah Smith has joined the Gold Sox roster. “We’ve heard great things about Elijah from Coach Kavanaugh and we’re excited to have him come out and show us his skills. They run a great program at Academy of Art and we’re happy that we have players from there this season,” said VP/GM Michael Mink.
6’0, 185 Smith is currently a junior studying Communications at Academy of Art University. He attended San Mateo College and then Contra Costa College where he had 39 hits, 31 RBIs, and 3 homeruns in 37 games played; he also posted a .273 average. At Academy of Art University, Smith has started in 31 games so far with 28 runs, 8 RBIs, a .264 average and a .941 fielding percentage. 
In addition to being good on the field, Elijah likes to race and is currently undefeated against the Baltimore state champion of Mario Kart. “LET’S GET ROWDY,” said Smith.
The Gold Sox kick off their first home game on Opening Day (June 1st, presented by Colusa Casino) at Colusa Casino Stadium in a 3-day series against the 2017 GWL Champion Medford Rogues.
